Potential return date for Spencer Strider revealed

With the Braves deciding to option AJ Smith-Shawver to Gwinnett following Saturday’s win over the Rays, the writing is on the wall for Spencer Strider to make his highly anticipated season debut next week.

According to Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal Constitution , Grant Holmes is listed as the starter for Monday’s game in Toronto. Spencer Schwellenbach will go in Game 2, and as of now, TBD is listed for the series finale. Spencer Strider is already with the club and has a jersey hanging in a locker. One would expect, he’ll get the nod on Wednesday.

A win on Sunday with Chris Sale on the bump would go a long way for the Braves, as they aim to look for their second series victory in a row. Sean Murphy has been the team’s MVP since returning earlier in the week, and the return of Spencer Strider will have the rotation looking like one of the best in baseball again.

A rocky start would be an understatement for the way the Braves season began, but these recent developments provide a much more promising outlook moving forward, and it’s still only the middle of April.
