Rangers Announce Major Blow After 6th Straight Loss

The Texas Rangers have lost six straight games. Falling 10-5 to the Chicago White Sox on Saturday, the Rangers are now 25-28 on the season. This skid, combined with the Los Angeles Angels winning eight straight, has dropped Texas to fourth place in the American League West standings.

A combination of issues has led to Texas being this underwhelming. The Rangers rank 27th in MLB in runs scored and 25th in runs allowed. Their team OPS of .650 ranks second-to-last in the American League. Only the White Sox, who defeated Texas on Saturday, own a worse mark in the AL.

The news did not get any better for Texas following Saturday's loss. Left-handed designated hitter Joc Pederson was removed from the game after being hit by a pitch. After the game, the team announced an unfortunate update via manager Bruce Bochy.

"Bruce Bochy told reporters that Joc Pederson suffered a right hand fracture after getting hit by a pitch in today's game," FOX Sports MLB posted on X.

Pederson, a two-time All-Star, started this season incredibly slow. While his overall numbers are still poor, he had been showing signs of life in recent games. His .505 OPS on the season has been climbing, as Pederson owns an .861 OPS in his last seven games.

This progress will be significantly halted, as Pederson is heading for an extended IL stint after the news Bochy announced postgame. Texas will play one more game against the White Sox on Sunday before heading home to host the Toronto Blue Jays.
