Will Joey Gallo be leaving the Rangers? Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Rangers' Joey Gallo available in trade talks?

It appears the Texas Rangers are thinking about moving on from Joey Gallo.

The outfielder has been made available in trade discussions despite voicing his desire to remain in Texas after the trade deadline passed, according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic. Rosenthal adds that "teams reliant on scouting love his athleticism and tools."

Gallo is coming off a hideous season at the plate, batting .181 with 10 home runs and 26 RBI in 57 games. However, he was tremendous in the outfield, showcasing his stellar glove work en route to the first Gold Glove of his career.

The 27-year-old had one of his best seasons in 2019, hitting a career-high .253 with 22 home runs and 49 RBI in 70 games. His season was cut short, though, due to an oblique strain and fractured wrist.

Texas has control of Gallo for two more seasons. He's set to earn up to $6.8 million in 2021 after arbitration and will become a free agent after the 2022 season.
