The Texas Rangers keep on winning, and so is their manager, Bruce Bochy. On Thursday, the Rangers collected their sixth win in a row by taking the series opener against the Houston Astros at Globe Life Field in Arlington, 1-0.

It wasn’t just an ordinary victory in the middle of May, as that win marked Bochy’s 2,195th as a manager in the big leagues. He’s now solo in the sixth spot for most managerial wins in MLB history, having broken his tie with Sparky Anderson.

Of course, the Rangers celebrated Bochy’s momentous feat.

“Continuing to move up the all-time ranks. Congrats, Boch!” the Rangers posted on their official X account along with a graphic that details Bochy’s remarkable milestone.

Only Joe Torre, Bobby Cox, John McGraw, Tony La Russa and Connie Mack won more games as a manager than Bochy, who turned 70 years old in April.

Bochy earned the bulk of his win total from his time with the San Diego Padres and the San Francisco Giants. He won 951 contests with the Padres and 1,052 more with the Giants. With San Francisco, he also pocketed three World Series championships, steering the Giants to the top of the MLB world in 2010, 2012 and 2014.

As for the Astros game, the Rangers fed off the tremendous performance on the mound by Jacob deGrom, who pitched eight scoreless innings, allowing only five hits with a walk and seven strikeouts.

The Rangers will look to extend their win streak this Friday, with Nathan Eovaldi scheduled to start against the Astros for Texas, which is second in the American League West division with a 24-21 record.
