Kyle Stowers and the surging Miami Marlins have long escaped the NL East basement and found a place in the middle of the Wild Card standings.
Rap legend Luther Campbell has an idea for another new home for the Marlins: the American League East.
Following the Marlins’ stunning weekend sweep of the free-falling New York Yankees, Campbell proposed that the two teams play more often. In fact, Campbell wants to see the Marlins join the Yankees and Boston Red Sox in the American League East.
“That stadium would be packed for every game like it was this weekend,” Campbell wrote on X/Twitter. Miami set a LoanDepot Park record with nearly 102,000 fans attending the three-game set.

Major League Baseball last changed its divisions in 2013, when the Houston Astros moved from the NL Central to the AL West. That move came ahead of a rule change ensuring that every team played one another per season, meaning that both leagues needed 15 teams; the American League previously had 14, and the National League had 16.
There have been no credible reports involving any division changes in recent years. It’s also worth noting that Major League Baseball did not alter the divisions during the shortened 2020 season.
For now, the 55-55 Marlins are 7 1/2 games behind the Philadelphia Phillies in the NL East. Miami is six back of the San Diego Padres for the NL’s third and final Wild Card spot.
