Recap: Arizona Diamondbacks bring the heat in high energy weekend finale against Braves

Sunday afternoon saw the Arizona Diamondbacks come alive as they avoided the sweep while ending their four game losing streak.

Brandon Pfaadt gave up nine hits and two earned runs on the day while striking out six in six innings pitched on the day. Shelby Miller, Ryan Thompson, and Justin Martinez went a combined 3.0 innings pitched with two hits and one earned run on the day.

Key moment on Sunday:

Josh Naylor continued on his hot streak as he doubled to center scoring Geraldo Perdomo and Pavin Smith as Arizona took a 6-3 lead in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Atlanta couldn’t end the series with a sweep. Even though Marcell Ozuna hit a double to left scoring Nick Allen in the top of the ninth inning, the D-Backs prevailed. Arizona won by a score of  6-4 on Sunday afternoon.

Arizona will have a travel day on Monday as they head to, “The Big Apple”, to take on the New York Mets for a three game away series. They will face the Mets six out of the next nine games. Shortly after Arizona travels to New York and Philadelphia, they will find New York on their agenda as soon as they get home after that.

The Arizona Dimaondbacks will take on the New York Mets at Citi Field in their next matchup. First pitch will be at 4:10 p.m. MST
