Red Sox activate 2B Trevor Story from IL
Paul Rutherford-USA TODAY Sports

The Boston Red Sox activated second baseman Trevor Story from the 10-day injured list on Saturday.

Story will bat sixth in the lineup of Saturday's game against the Tampa Bay Rays.

The move was expected after Story worked his way back from a hairline fracture in his wrist. He sustained the injury after being hit by a pitch on the right hand on July 12.

"He'll be here tomorrow," Red Sox manager Alex Cora said after Friday's 9-8 win over the Rays. "We'll take a look at him and most likely he'll be active tomorrow. He's ready to go. Just have to make sure everything checks in well in the morning, and the hope is for him to play tomorrow."

Story, 29, went 3-for-5 with a homer and three RBIs in two rehab games at Double-A Portland.

After signing a six-year, $140 million deal with the Red Sox this past offseason, Story has career lows with a .221 batting average and a .713 OPS. He has 15 home runs and 58 RBIs in 81 games for Boston.

A two-time All-Star in six seasons with the Colorado Rockies, Story is a career .267 hitter with an .848 OPS and has 173 home runs with 508 RBIs in 826 games.

Boston optioned outfielder Jarren Duran to Triple-A Worcester following Friday's game.

Duran, 25, is batting .220 with three homers and 17 RBIs in 57 games this season.
