Red Sox Announce Jarren Duran News on Tuesday
Jarren Duran has been a catalyst for the Red Sox offense this season, slashing .262/.328/.462 with a .790 OPS through 450 at-bats, along with 12 home runs, 63 RBIs and 18 stolen bases in 111 games played for Boston.
His 118 hits and 63 runs scored rank him among the team’s most consistent threats, and his left-field defense has drawn praise from both teammates and analysts.
Building on that performance, the Red Sox officially announced on Tuesday, “Congrats to Jarren Duran on being named our 2025 Heart & Hustle Award winner!”
Duran prevailed over a stellar group of 29 nominees, each representing their club, including AL standouts Brent Rooker, Jackson Holliday, José Ramírez, Byron Buxton and Paul Goldschmidt, as well as NL contenders Pete Alonso, Kyle Schwarber, Luis Arraez and Matt Chapman.

This team-level honor, voted on by former players, recognizes the passion, effort and dedication Duran brings to Fenway Park every day.
As the July 31 trade deadline loomed, reports revealed that San Diego’s opening salvo for Jarren Duran included veteran right-hander Dylan Cease, catching prospect Ethan Salas and an additional minor-league arm, per Sean McAdam of MassLive.
“Similarly, the Red Sox have signaled interest in Dylan Cease, who would be a rental," McAdam wrote. "The Padres, in their never-ending quest to acquire Duran, proposed a package involving Cease, catching prospect Ethan Salas and another prospect (not shortstop Leo de Vries) for Duran, which was quickly rejected."
Boston’s front office, however, opted for a swift no, viewing Cease as a mere rental, set to hit free agency after 2025 and expressing reluctance to part with multiple controllable assets for a short-term boost.
