Red Sox, Fenway Park pay tribute to service members on Memorial Day

The Boston Red Sox usually take the field on Memorial Day, but unfortunately this year is different as the coronavirus pandemic has prevented the start of the Major League Baseball season. However, that hasn't stopped the organization and it's home at Fenway Park from paying tribute to all who lost their lives in service to the United States.

Although the stands were empty, that didn't stop a large American flag being displayed on the famous Green Monster and a retired member of the U.S. Marine Corps and National Guard from playing a song on his bugle.

This isn't the only time the ballpark has honored service members amid the coronavirus pandemic. The grounds crew has carved messages into the Fenway Park outfield in honor of nurses and EMT's who are sacrificing their lives and fighting on the front lines of the virus.

The Dropkick Murphys also will perform a charity concert at the Boston ballpark on May 29 that will be streamed on the band's social media platforms.

While MLB continues to iron out details with the players' association on how to begin a shortened 82-game season, it seems we can expect many more tributes at Fenway Park.
