Red Sox LHP Ranger Suarez leaves game with injury

Boston Red Sox left hander Ranger Suarez left Sunday’s game against the Los Angles Angels with two outs to go int the third inning with left adductor tightness according to ESPN.

Suarez was replaced by relief pitcher Greg Weissert who tossed 1.1 innings of scoreless baseball.

Boston was fortunately able to overcome Suarez’s early exit with a 7-5 victory, with Suarez sharing a bit of what happened following the game.

“With that pitch that I threw, I felt a big pinch around the groin area,” Suarez said per ESPN. “I tried to throw another pitch, but I still felt it, so I came out.”

Manager Chad Tracy shared that the team is unsure an MRI is necessary for Suarez who was named an All-Star last Saturday.

“You’re always concerned,” Tracy said. “Anytime you see that, you are concerned. We’l have a better idea tomorrow. Those things always present one way, but then you see how they wake up.”

Through is first season with the Red Sox, Suarez has posted a 4-3 record with a 3.14 ERA and 97 strikeouts this season.
