The Boston Red Sox are set to host the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday night. Before the game, Red Sox pitcher Kutter Crawford, who is dealing with a wrist injury, received an update, via Chris Cotillo of masslive.com.

“Kutter Crawford will throw a bullpen tomorrow and if all goes well, he’ll make a rehab start at Worcester this weekend,” Cotillo reported.

Crawford, 30, has not pitched at the MLB level since the 2024 season. He missed all of 2025 due to injury and has yet to pitch in 2026. Assuming no setbacks occur, Crawford will begin his rehab assignment this weekend. It seems as if he could end up making his return to the Red Sox sooner rather than later.

It remains to be seen what his role will be once he joins Boston. Has has primarily been a starter, but Crawford does have relief experience. Overall, 69 of his 86 total big league outings have been starts.

In 2024, Crawford led the league with 33 starts. His performance was underwhelming, as he turned in a 4.36 ERA. Crawford also surrendered the most home runs in the league with a mark of 34. However, Crawford gave the Red Sox 183.2 innings and 175 strikeouts.

The Red Sox are hoping to compete in 2026, and Crawford could play an important role regardless of whether he starts or comes out of the bullpen.

Updates will continue to be monitored and provided on Kutter Crawford’s injury status as they are made available. For now, the Red Sox will focus on their game on Tuesday night against the Brewers at 6:45 PM EST.
