The Reds have optioned relief pitcher Lyon Richardson to Triple-A Louisville, according to the Reds' minor league transaction log.

Richardson has been great for the Reds, appearing in 10 games with an ERA of 1.32 over 13 2/3 innings.

This is Richardson's first season as a reliever.

It's unfortunate Richardson got optioned with how well he's pitched, but Ian Gibaut, Taylor Rogers, and Scott Barlow do not have options remaining. Therefore, the easy decision from a roster standpoint was to either option Richardon or Luis Mey.

The Reds host the Chicago Cubs in a three-game series starting on Friday at Great American Ball Park.
