Reds Reliever Brent Suter: 'I’ve Never Looked Forward To A Season As Much As This Year'
Matt Kartozian-USA TODAY Sports

It’s not every day that a native of his city gets to play for his hometown team. That’s exactly the case with 34-year-old Brent Suter.

The left-hander recently signed a $3 million deal with the Cincinnati Reds. He's played for the Brewers and the Rockies before signing with the Reds this offseason.

It’s definitely a blessing to make our offseason home in Cincinnati, about 15 minutes from the ballpark, so this is a dream come true," Suter told MLB Network. "My family and friends are all so excited. I’ve never looked forward to a season as much as this year for a lot of reasons.” He then goes on to talk about the team itself by saying, “I’m super excited for our team. We got a great young core here, and I can’t wait to hopefully bring my great brain to Cincinnati this year.”

Suter has posted a 3.49 career ERA in 464 innings pitched.

The Reds also signed veterans Nick Martinez, Emilio Pagan and Frankie Montas this offseason in hopes of giving their entire pitching staff a boost.

Suter will likely play a huge role for the Reds on and off the field, which is definitely special for the hometown kid.
