The injuries pile up for the Cincinnati Reds.

They took a one-run victory over the Atlanta Braves, but Hunter Greene felt his right groin grab while throwing a warm-up pitch to start the fourth inning. The Reds stopped a four-game losing streak with the 4-3 win.

Greene gave up two hits and struck out six, with several topping 100 mph on the radar gun. Greene told reporters he felt the groin grab but not pop. Greene threw 114 pitches in his last start, a 6-1 win over the Washington Nationals. He will get an MRI.

By the time Greene left, the Reds had a 4-0 lead. The bullpen had to cover six innings.

TJ Friedl hit two home runs off Grant Holmes, the Braves' starter. Matt McLain and Elly De La Cruz singled to put runners on first and third with no outs. Gavin Lux hit a ground ball to score the second run of the first inning. Tyler Stephenson hit an RBI single in the fourth to cap the Reds' scoring.

Brent Suter, Scott Barlow, Taylor Rogers, Luis Mey, and Tony Santillan combined to take the slim lead into the ninth. Emilio Pagan atoned for his blown save on Tuesday night with a successful save in the win.

The Reds had more bad news on the day they placed Noelvi Marte on the 10-day injured list with a grade two strain to his left oblique. He felt it throwing out Ahmed Rosario on Sunday. He felt it again in the batting cage on Tuesday. The Reds recalled Rece Hinds. They recalled Jacob Hurtubise on Tuesday when Tyler Callihan broke his forearm.

Jake Fraley had an MRI late Wednesday to check a calf strain suffered Tuesday night as a pinch hitter.

With a Pollyanic view, Rhett Lowder is close to coming back, pitching three innings in a rehab start on Tuesday. Chase Petty, who was roughed up by the St. Louis Cardinals in his debut, pitched six hitless innings in a win over Omaha on Tuesday night. He walked three and struck out eight. Another top Reds’ pitching prospect, Connor Phillips, pitched a scoreless inning with three strikeouts for the Dayton Dragons in his first rehab start, coming off the injured list.
