Lin, a 21-year-old from Taiwan, signed with the Diamondbacks as an international free agent in 2022 and has quickly risen through the ranks. This season, he spent the majority of his time with the Amarillo Sod Poodles, the Diamondbacks’ Double-A affiliate, where he posted a 4.28 ERA over 94 innings. In his final Double-A start, Lin pitched eight innings and allowed just two earned runs.
In 2023, Lin averaged 10.3 strikeouts per nine innings.
Lin’s promotion to Triple-A is a significant step toward achieving his ultimate goal. Before the season began, he expressed his ambition, stating, “I want to go to the big leagues this year, for sure. I mean, I got Double-A, and now there’s just one more level to go. I’m getting close.” He works from a 3/4 arm slot, with a fastball that sits around 90 mph, complemented by a solid mix of secondary pitches, including a curveball, slider, and changeup
The Aces will face the Sugar Land Space Cowboys, the Triple-A affiliate of the Houston Astros, in the PCL championship series starting on Tuesday.
