Report: Blue Jays one-time All-Star SP Hyun Jin Ryu expected to miss 'significant time' with forearm injury

The Toronto Blue Jays placed lefthander Hyun Jin Ryu on the 15-day injured list last week due to left forearm inflammation. It turns out that the 35-year-old may end up being sidelined for an extensive portion of the upcoming summer portion of the season.

Ryu has been limited to 27 innings pitched over six outings this season and has mostly struggled, posting a 5.33 ERA and 1.29 WHIP. He was first placed on the 10-day injured list with left forearm inflammation on April 17 and was activated on May 14.

A 2019 All-Star with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Ryu is in his third season with the Blue Jays. Ryu went 14-10 in 2021, but his 4.37 ERA was a career high.

In 175 career regular-season games, he has a 75-45 record with a 3.26 ERA and 1.17 WHIP.
