Former Minnesota Twins right fielder has reportedly found a new home for 2025.
Kepler and the Philadelphia Phillies are working on finalizing a one-year deal pending a physical, according to Phillies reporter Todd Zolecki.
The 31-year-old has spent his entire 10-year career in Minnesota, becoming a free agent for the first time this offseason.
Along with former teammate Caleb Thielbar, Kepler was the longest tenured Twins player on the roster this past season.
He slashed a line of .253/.302/.380 with eight home runs, 21 doubles and 42 RBI. Kepler's games played (105) was the lowest in a full season in his career, due to injuries. That doesn't included the shortened 2020 seas when he played in 48.
Kepler leaves the organization after hitting 161 career home runs, ranking 13th overall in Twins history. It's one behind Miguel Sanó and two behind Tom Brunansky.
The Twins will likely turn to other corner outfielders Matt Wallner or Trevor Larnach for the 2025 season and have others making their way through the minor leagues. Emmanuel Rodriguez — Minnesota's No. 2 overall prospect — could also see some time at either corner outfield position.
In his 1,072 career games with the Twins, Kepler slashed a career line of .237/.318/.429 with an OPS of .746. Along with his 161 homers, he also had 508 RBI and 205 doubles.
Kepler's best season statistically came in 2019, when he hit .252/.336/.519 with an OPS of .855, had season-highs of 36 home runs, 90 RBI, 32 doubles and 98 runs scored in 134 games. He posted a WAR of 4.0 and hasn't reached a WAR of at least 3 since.
