Report: Final 'couple' Yankees receive COVID-19 vaccine, now eligible to play road games vs. Blue Jays

It was reported on Sunday the Boston Red Sox would be without multiple unvaccinated players for their upcoming series on the road against the Toronto Blue Jays. It appears that their bitter rivals — the New York Yankees — are finally in the clear and should be 100% vaccinated and ready to go north of the border for when they face the Blue Jays.

The Yankees won't play in Toronto until the first week of May, from May 2 to May 4. The Red Sox and Blue Jays will square off at the Rogers Centre from April 25 to April 28.

Boston starting pitcher Tanner Houck indicated over the weekend that he is still unvaccinated and won't be available for the series in Canada. Seven-time All-Star starting pitcher Chris Sale revealed in March that he wasn't yet vaccinated, though Sale is currently on the shelf with a rib injury and hasn't pitched yet this season.

MLB isn't the only professional sports league dealing with big-name players being ineligible for contests in Canada. In the NBA, Philadelphia 76ers defensive stopper Matisse Thybulle recently made headlines due to his ineligibility for upcoming road playoff games against the Toronto Raptors.
