We have another good ole’ fashion source off! Except this time, the source is the same guy.
Two days ago, ESPN’s Buster Olney reported that the market for Braves designated hitter Marcell Ozuna was heating up 48 hours before the trade deadline.
With little more than 48 hours to go before the deadline, there is movement developing around Marcell Ozuna, who has the power to reject any trade proposal. At least one team has had internal conversations about trying to work out a deal for the slugger.

Fast forward about 28 hours, and now Olney is backtracking on his original statement, saying the market for the Big Bear has not really materialized, citing that Ozuna has the ability to veto any trade because of his 10-and-5 rights.
With less than 10 hours until the trade deadline, there doesn't appear to be any traction for a Marcell Ozuna deal. He has 10-5 rights to reject any trade.

On several occasions, I’ve discussed why the market for Marcell Ozuna was not going to be robust. There aren’t many buyers looking for designated hitters this time of year, especially hobbled ones that have struggled to hit over the Mendoza Line over the last two months.
Ozuna has notably been dealing with a tear in his hip since April, which has clearly affected his performance with the stick. Since June 2nd, he’s hitting just .172 with five homers — good for a .584 OPS. His 10-and-5 rights also complicate things further; although, it does appear he’d be willing to waive that right for a fresh start.
The Big Bear has looked much more like himself recently. He homered in back-to-back games and has four home runs in his last 11 games. Given his track record, there’s still time for something to materialize in the final moments.
