Report: Mets showing 'significant interest' in Rich Hill

The New York Mets continue to be one of the busiest teams in Major League Baseball this winter.

According to WEEI's Rob Bradford, the Mets have shown "significant interest" in free-agent left-hander Rich Hill. The Tampa Bay Rays and Milwaukee Brewers are also interested in signing Hill.

The 40-year-old has been very effective throughout his 16-year career. Last season, he went 2-2 for the Minnesota Twins with a 3.03 ERA and 31 strikeouts in 38.2 innings. Overall, Hill has a career 3.79 ERA and 1.222 WHIP.

While Hill spent the pandemic-shortened campaign with the Twins, he has also played for the Boston Red Sox, Los Angeles Dodgers, Chicago Cubs, Oakland Athletics, Cleveland Indians, Los Angeles Angels, New York Yankees and Baltimore Orioles.

If the Mets sign Hill, he'll join a rotation that includes Jacob deGrom, Carlos Carrasco and Marcus Stroman.

New York is also interested in signing reigning National League Cy Young winner Trevor Bauer.
