Anthony Rizzo suffered an injury to his right arm/hand during his New York Yankees’ 9-3 loss to the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park on Sunday night that will likely keep him out for some time.
Rizzo suffered a fracture to the radial neck of his right arm, The Athletic reported on Monday. The injury will not require surgery but is expected to sideline Rizzo for four to six weeks.
Rizzo suffered the injury after Red Sox pitcher Brennan Bernardino bumped into the Yankees first baseman while covering first base on a grounder during the top of the first inning.

The injury to Rizzo comes a week after the Yankees first baseman was given a few days off to collect himself.
Rizzo has batted just .223 with a .630 OPS in 70 games this season. He hit the ball well to start last season but then went into the tank after a collision with Fernando Tatis at first base in May. It wasn’t until August that the Yankees determined Rizzo had suffered a concussion during that collision.
This is two years in a row that Rizzo will be sidelined after a collision at first base.
