While the New York Mets still hold the best record in the National League at 38-20 and still hold a sizeable eight-game lead in the NL East over the second-place Atlanta Braves, the Amazin's are being battle-tested by injuries like few other teams in baseball. New York was blanked by the San Diego Padres 7-0 on Tuesday night, but that wasn't even the worst part of the evening. The Mets lost star hitters Pete Alonso and Starling Marte to injuries, the former due to a right hand ailment and the latter with a left quadriceps issue.
