Resurgent Blue Jays Take Flight With Game 3 Offensive Explosion

The Toronto Blue Jays sent a strong message to their doubters with an offensive explosion in Game 3 of the ALCS.

After dropping the first two games of the series, Toronto batters came out slugging in a 13-4 victory over the Seattle Mariners at T-Mobile Park.

Something needed to change after Toronto went an abysmal 1-for-42 in the first two series games after the second inning.

The visiting Jays punished the Mariners with 18 hits. Nine were for extra bases. Five different Blue Jays went yard in Game 3.

Seattle starter George Kirby only lasted four innings before being relieved by manager Dan Wilson. The 27-year-old right-hander was lit up like a Christmas tree for eight hits, three homers and eight earned runs.

Guerrero Jr. Erupts Like a Volcano

Toronto needed superstar Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to respond in a big way after struggling early in the series. Like a dormant volcano turning active, he sprayed balls like molten lava across T-Mobile Park.

After going a hitless 0-for-7 in the first two series games at Rogers Center, Guerrero Jr. transformed into a road warrior.

The power-hitting first baseman went 4-for-4 with one home run, one RBI and three runs scored. Guerrero Jr. finished a triple shy of the cycle and tied a franchise record by reaching base safely five times.

His home run in the top of the fifth, followed by a walk to Anthony Santander ended Kirby’s day.

Springer, Kirk Come Out Swinging

Designated hitter George Springer went 3-for-6 with one home run, one RBI and two runs scored. His long ball to center field was hit like a missile at 112.5 miles per hour.

Springer tied New York Yankee legend Bernie Williams for the fourth-most home runs in playoff history by slamming his 22nd career postseason homer.

Catcher Alejandro Kirk finished 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBIs and two runs scored.

Shortstop Andres Gimenez and third baseman Addison Barger also hit round-trippers.

Bieber Settled Down After Early Trouble To Earn Game 3 Win

After surrendering a two-run homer to Julio Rodriguez in the bottom of the first inning, Shane Bieber collected himself to nail down a win.

The 30-year-old right-hander turned in a solid performance by allowing four hits and two earned runs in six innings pitched. He struck out eight Mariners and only walked one batter.

Righty reliever Braydon Fisher and left-hander Mason Fluharty each threw scoreless innings.

Looking Ahead To Game 4

The Blue Jays’ offensive outburst puts pressure on the Mariners to respond. Seattle cannot afford to drop Game 4 and allow the series to return to Rogers Center even at 2-2.

Mariners’ Game 4 starter Luis Castillo will need to be at his brilliant best. The three-time All-Star has opened the 2025 postseason with six scoreless innings.

Experienced Max Scherzer will take the ball for Toronto. The future Hall of Famer hasn’t appeared in the postseason since helping the Texas Rangers to the 2023 World Series championship.

It’s a dynamite pitching matchup to open Thursday’s Game 4. So far, this has been a rollercoaster ALCS. There’s plenty of dramatic twists to come.
