RHP Gerardo Reyes Moves To 40-Man Roster
USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Angels have made an announcement regarding their roster moves. The Angels promoted 30-year-old right-handed pitcher Gerardo Reyes to the 40-man roster.

This decision comes after catcher Max Stassi was placed on the 60-day injured list. Reyes is currently in his second season with the Angels, and he made his debut for the 2023 season on Saturday.

In his first appearance, he pitched one inning, allowing two hits and one earned run. It might not have been the best start, but it's understandable, considering it was his first start. Reyes had signed a minor league deal in the off-season and has been pitching for the Salt Lake team this season.

In 2022, he was also with the Angels but only pitched in two games. Overall, he has a career 7.45 ERA in 29 innings pitched with 38 strikeouts and a 4-0 record. Reyes has only been in the league for three seasons with the Angels and Padres in 2019, but he's spent the majority of his time in the minor leagues.

He's pitched in over 250 games there and has been in Triple-A. This season, he has gone 2-2 with a 4.64 ERA, 32 strikeouts, and a 1.55 WHIP in 19 games and 21.1 innings pitched.

We'll see how long he will be in the majors and how he produces at the highest level there is.
