Benny Sieu-USA TODAY Sports

The Colorado Rockies moved to build their pitching staff on Friday, agreeing to a three-year contract extension with right-hander Tyler Kinley and claiming left-hander Brent Suter off waivers.

The Rockies didn't announce financial terms for the deal with Kinley, which will run through the 2025 season. The contract includes a club option for 2026.

Kinley, 31, was 1-1 with a 0.75 ERA in 25 relief appearances in 2022. He struck out 27 and surrendered 21 hits in 24 innings pitched.

In his career with the Minnesota Twins (2018), Miami Marlins (2018-19) and Rockies, Kinley has appeared in 184 games, all in relief. He is 7-6 with a 4.44 ERA and one save in 178 1/3 innings. He has converted just one of his seven hold opportunities.

Claimed off waivers from Milwaukee, Suter, 33, was 5-3 with a 3.78 ERA in 54 appearances out of the Milwaukee bullpen in 2022.

He had spent his entire seven-year career with the Brewers, compiling a 36-19 record and a 3.51 ERA across 196 games (39 starts).

Milwaukee drafted Suter in the 31st round in 2012. He played collegiately at Harvard.
