Rockies Pitcher Chad Kuhl Did The Impossible Against The Dodgers

Pitching a good game against the Los Angeles Dodgers is hard to do.

Pitching a complete game shutout?

That’s darn near impossible.

Kuhl took the mound last night in the Colorado Rockies‘ series opener against Los Angeles and pitched perhaps the game of his life, throwing a complete game shutout as the Rockies won by a final of 4-0 over the Dodgers.

Kuhl allowed just three hits, striking out five batters and not allowing a single walk throughout the game.

Bob Nightengale of USA Today tweeted about Kuhl’s accomplishment, reminding baseball fans that the last pitcher to throw a complete game shutout against the Dodgers was then-Boston Red Sox starter Steven Wright, who did in on August 5, 2016.

Kuhl Story

What a night for Kuhl.

Here’s a guy who has been a fringe starter for much of his career.

That was often his role during his time with the Pittsburgh Pirates.

But last night, the 29-year-old right-hander pitched an absolute gem against perhaps the best lineup in all of baseball, one that consists of Freddie Freeman, Trea Turner, and Max Muncy.

That didn’t appear to bother Kuhl at all last night.

Kuhl is a name that could ultimately be thrown around in trade discussions.

With the Rockies more than likely out of contention and starting pitching at a premium, we could see teams who need a starter try and make a play for him.

The Boston Red Sox and St. Louis Cardinals are a few teams that come to mind.

If he is ultimately traded, then he did a lot to help boost his value last night.

Kuhl is now 5-5 on the season with a 3.49 ERA in 14 starts.
