The Boston Red Sox have placed star outfielder Roman Anthony on the Injured List due to a right wrist sprain. Anthony suffered the sprain in the Red Sox sweep over the Detroit Tigers.

Anthony initially injured his wrist following an awkward swing. The Red Sox then took the chance that Anthony would be back sooner rather than later. However, he will miss more time than the team was hoping for, and was placed on IL.

Despite being placed on IL on Thursday, he is allowed to return as early as Friday, May 15, to play the Atlanta Braves. He was originally ruled out with an injury on Tuesday, May 5, which is technically when the IL started.

So far this season Anthony has played in 30 games and has a .229 batting average with five RBIs and one homer.
