The 2025 MLB trade deadline is today, and this morning, the San Diego Padres and Athletics agreed to a huge trade. The Athletics are sending closer Mason Miller and lefty JP Sears to the Padres. In return, the Padres are sending the third-ranked prospect in baseball, shortstop Leo De Vries, along with pitchers Braden Nett, Henry Baez, and Eduarniel Nunez.

Miller this season in 38 games is 1-2. Miller has 20 saves, a 3.76 ERA, a 1.02 WHIP, and 59 strikeouts in 38.1 innings.
Sears in 22 starts this season is 7-9. Sears has a 4.95 ERA, a 1.27 WHIP, and 97 strikeouts in 111 innings.
De Vries in 82 games at High-A hit .245 with a .767 OPS. He had 19 doubles, four triples, eight home runs, 46 RBI, 46 runs scored, eight stolen bases, and 52 walks.
Nett this season in 17 starts at Double-A is 5-4. Nett has a 3.39 ERA, a 1.41 WHIP, and 86 strikeouts in 74.1 innings.
Baez this season in 20 starts is 4-2 with a 1.96 ERA, a 1.00 WHIP, and 89 strikeouts in 96.2 innings.
Nunez, in four games with the Padres he’s posting a 3.86 ERA, a 1.71 WHIP, and two strikeouts in 4.2 innings. In 29 games between Double-A and Triple-A, he’s 4-1 with a 2.31 ERA, a 1.03 WHIP, and 56 strikeouts in 35 innings.
