Sandy Alcantara Shared The Perfect Message After His Big Win
Michael McLoone-USA TODAY Sports

Miami Marlins ace Sandy Alcantara was the unanimous choice for the National League Cy Young Award, which was announced last night on MLB Network.

Justin Verlander of the Houston Astros took home the honor in the American League.

Alcantara posted a 2.28 ERA in 32 starts with a 14-9 record.

The 27-year-old became the first pitcher in Marlins history to win a Cy Young Award.

After having been announced as the winner, Alcantara took a video of himself and shared a perfect message to Marlins fans.

The right-hander’s message was short and to the point, with him simply telling fans, “We made it.”

He Made It

Alcantara and the Marlins certainly made it.

The right-hander put together a historic season, earning his second All-Star nod.

The young ace was acquired from the St. Louis Cardinals back in 2017 in the deal that sent Marcell Ozuna to St. Louis.

It’s safe to say that the Marlins got the better end of the deal.

And this is a trade that has continually haunted Cardinals fans, even to this day.

But Alcantara has come a long way since his debut with the Cardinals in 2017.

In St. Louis, he was primarily used as a reliever.

Upon his arrival in Miami, the right-hander immediately became a frontline starter and blossomed into an ace in just a few short years.

Alcantara’s journey has been a long one, but now, he has a chance to celebrate an accomplishment that he will remember for the rest of his life.

The future is bright for Alcantara.
