Seattle Mariners' Mike Ford Hits Game-Tying HR and Makes Team History on Saturday
USA TODAY Sports

At the time of this posting, Seattle Mariners designated hitter Mike Ford has hit two home runs against the Baltimore Orioles, including a game-tying homer in the top of the ninth inning.

The latter came with two outs off of dominant Orioles closer Felix Bautista, and it also made some team history.

Per Sarah Langs of MLB.com:

100.4 MPH PITCH!

that’s the fastest pitch any Mariners player has homered off of in the pitch-tracking era (2008)

MIKE FORD

Ford is 2-4 on the day and is now hitting .182 for the season. While the average is low, he's got six homers and eight RBI this season and has helped give the Mariners some type of presence at the position.

Ford is a career .199 hitter with 26 homers and 59 RBI. He's appeared in the majors with the Yankees, Mariners, Giants, Braves and Angels. This is second tour of major league duty with Seattle.

At the time of this posting, the Mariners and Orioles are tied 4-4 in the bottom of the tenth inning. If Seattle wins, they'll jump back over .500 but a loss would drop them back under. They entered play at 37-37 while Baltimore entered at 45-29.

The two teams will finish out the series on Sunday afternoon at 1:35 p.m. ET. Mariners young ace George Kirby (6-6, 3.29 ERA) will pitch against Kyle Bradish for Baltimore. He's 3-3 with a 3.88 ERA.

After this series ends, the Mariners will head home for a new series with the Washington Nationals, beginning Monday.
