The Seattle Mariners made franchise history this weekend with their performance against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Their pitching staff tossed three consecutive shutouts for the first time in team history. They outscored the Pittsburgh Pirates 8-0 over this three-game set. Will the pitching staff of the Seattle Mariners continue performing at such a high level?

Seattle is in second place in the American League West with a record of 48-42. They currently occupy the third AL wild card spot. Seattle’s offense has been mediocre in 2025. They are 14th in the league in batting average, sixth in home runs, and 13th in runs scored. Catcher Cal Raleigh is on pace to have the best season for a player at his position in league history. He is leading the league in home runs, second in RBI, second in Slugging Percentage, and second in OPS.
As was on display this weekend against the Pittsburgh Pirates, Seattle’s pitching staff is one of the best in the league. They are 11th in team ERA, 13th in WHIP, and 15th in opposing batting average. Seattle’s starting pitching has been especially strong. Bryan Woo is 17th in the league in ERA and eighth in WHIP. Woo and Closer Andres Munoz were the team’s two representatives from the pitching staff named to the initial roster of the 2025 MLB All-Star Game.
Seattle’s pitching staff will face a much tougher task on Tuesday when they welcome the New York Yankees to town for a three-game set. Even though New York has struggled as of late, their offense is one of the league’s most formidable. Seattle’s pitching staff will look to continue carrying the ballclub.
