A series win would be monumental for the Arizona Diamondbacks on Wednesday night over the San Francisco Giants at Chase Field.
The D-Backs took over in last night’s matchup and broke the game open at the plate after going down early. Arizona showed that they have this comeback mentality and a hardened work ethic. Outfielder Jake McCarthy had some bold words to say after the victory on Tuesday night about the state of the ball club, and what others have been mentioning about them. JAKE MCCARTHY from the top rope!
“Let people doubt. I welcome it. Our team welcomes it. The people who want to count us out, think we’re done… they don’t know s–! They don’t know s—!”
Been trying to tell folks. That got a stone cold culture in this clubhouse. @12SportsAZ pic.twitter.com/JNRxAbnsFp

Merrill Kelly will get the start on Wednesday night at Chase Field. Kelly has been one of the most consistent pitchers for Arizona this season, although in his last three starts, he has taken a step back. In those outings, Kelly has pitched at least five innings but has allowed six hits and three runs or more in each game. Though he has been finding his way around the plate as Kelly has seven strikeouts or more in his last five appearances. With a 7-4 record and a 3.48 ERA on the season, Arizona can only hope Kelly can shake off those hits and slow down the Giants at the plate today.
San Francisco will be having Landen Roupp get the start. Roupp has a 6-5 record with a 3.34 ERA on the season. Roupp pitched at least five innings and hasn’t allowed an earned run in his last two starts against the Chicago White Sox and Boston Red Sox.
If the Snakes can come out on top in Wednesday night’s matchup, it’ll be a giant step forward after a four-game losing streak and being swept by the Miami Marlins. It starts with offensive execution and relies on their starters to go deep into these outings. The first pitch at Chase Field is tonight at 6:40 p.m. PT.
