Shohei Ohtani Achieved What No MLB Player Has in 20 Years in Dodgers-Marlins

As the Los Angeles Dodgers took on the Miami Marlins in their second of three games on Tuesday, the game needed extra innings to determine the winner.

Miami ended up winning the game in the 10th inning with a final score of 5-4.

As we know, in seasons past and in their series in Los Angeles last week, Shohei Ohtani and Freddie Freeman have been one of the Marlins' weak spots.

Freddie Freeman was able to hit his 350th career home run on Monday night and Ohtani was able to reach his illustrious 50/50 season while playing the Marlins in 2024.

With all of this happening, Ohtani has been able to reach another stat line that hasn't been seen since 2005.

Shohei Ohtani becomes first player in MLB with 10+ home runs and 10+ stolen bases.

To lead off the sixth inning, Shohei Ohtani faced lefty Anthony Veneziano and on the very first pitch smacked a home run to tie the game at 2-2.

This home run would put Ohtani's home run count at 10. He was able to steal a base in last night's 7-4 win, tallying his 10th stolen base of the season.

MLB.com's Sarah Langs announced that the Dodgers' designated hitter has become the first player since Brian Roberts did it in 2005 to hit 10+ home runs and steal 10+ stolen bases through their team's first 36 games of the season.

This is just another stat line that Ohtani has been able to put on his baseball resume.

He has taken over the lead-off spot permanently for Los Angeles in 2025 and has been able to put up a .296 batting average, .399 on-base percentage and a .607 slugging percentage through 36 games.
