Shohei Ohtani Takes Home Another Deserved Award

While Shohei Ohtani may not take the field very often, except to pitch, his impact can be felt on both sides of the ball.

The Los Angeles Angels took a chance on the two-way superstar back in 2017, and since his arrival in the Major Leagues, Ohtani has not disappointed.

Last season, he won the American League MVP Award.

After another solid season on the mound and at the plate, Ohtani finished second in the voting behind Aaron Judge.

On Monday, the slugger and ace took home yet another well-deserved honor, being named the winner of the Edgar Martinez Outstanding DH Award for the second consecutive year.

At the plate, Ohtani put together another strong performance in 2022 on the heels of his MVP season in 2021.

The slugger hit for a .273 average and hit 34 home runs, driving in 95 runs, stealing 11 bases, and collecting a total of 70 extra-base hits.

For his career, the 28-year-old has a total of 127 home runs and has hit for a lifetime average of .267.

Despite finishing second in the MVP voting behind Judge, the choice for the Outstanding DH Award was clear, with Ohtani taking home the honor yet again.

Not since Babe Ruth has the game of baseball seen a star like Ohtani.

But it was his hitting that earned him last night’s honor.

Arguably the best player in all of baseball, Ohtani certainly didn’t disappoint in the batter’s box in 2022 and was more than deserving of the Outstanding DH Award.

He also won 15 games as a pitcher and posted a 2.33 ERA.
