Shohei Ohtani's next team odds abruptly changed late Friday night
Los Angeles Angels two-way player Shohei Ohtani (17) Kiyoshi Mio-USA TODAY Sports

Shohei Ohtani’s next team odds abruptly changed late Friday night after a full day of speculation that he would join the Toronto Blue Jays.

For anyone keeping up with social media, a circus-like clown show erupted among baseball insiders early Friday morning when reports surfaced that Ohtani was on a plane to Toronto.

After hours of plane-tracking, it turned out that Ohtani wasn’t on the aircraft in question. Rather, it was "Shark Tank" regular Robert Herjavec.

Herjavec had a little fun with the whole situation on his Instagram account:

Despite the fake-out, the popular consensus after all that brouhaha was still that Ohtani’s likeliest landing spot was now the Blue Jays.

Interestingly enough, though, Ohtani’s next team odds abruptly changed.

The new frontrunners for his services? The Los Angeles Dodgers. Bookies had them at +150 (Toronto was +325); Covers had them at -140 (with Toronto at +100).

That is quite different from the “lock” it seemed to be for most of the day that Ohtani would be a member of the Blue Jays come this weekend.

What do the oddsmakers know that the general public does not? It is unclear.

That being said, something is amiss. Time will tell what it is. There is a hunger to see where he will end up.

But folks will have to wait one more day for that.

Will Ohtani join the Dodgers or Blue Jays when it’s all said and done? An answer one way or another is coming soon.
