Slugger Michael Busch and RHP Landon Knack Named Hitting and Pitching Prospects of the Year for LA

LA lost their second straight NLDS this season but there are still reasons to be hopeful about the Dodgers' future.

Minor league awards were announced earlier this week and Michael Busch and Landon Knack won honors for the organization.

Busch started the year in the majors but struggled for his first full-time stint with the big league club.

The rookie struck out 16 times and managed just nine hits through his first three months of the season as an injury replacement.

Busch got sent back down to the minor leagues but dominated with Oklahoma City toward the end of summer.

As a minor leaguer, Busch showed why he deserved the award after a dominant season in Triple-A.

Oklahoma City got treated to 390 at-bats from the infielder where he hit .327 with a 1.049 OPS and 27 home runs over 98 games in the Pacific Coast League.

Busch's major league return due to J.D Martinez's injury saw him hit his first major league home run but he was ultimately left off of Dave Roberts' playoff roster.

Landon Knack joined Busch away from the NLDS roster but his roster exemption was far less questioned due to LA's other rookie arms.

Knack, to his credit, dominated at the minor league level from the mound after a rough 2022 at Double-A.

The 26-year-old tossed 100 innings over 22 starts and struck out 99 batters with a 2.51 ERA as the Dodgers' best minor league pitcher.

Ryan Pepiot, Emmet Sheehan and Michael Grove all played roles on the Dodgers' postseason roster and Knack could soon join that company in short order.

It's more than likely that both men will get spring training invites next February as the Dodgers' farm system continues to bear fruit.

Though LA's present remains without another championship, their future could very well get them there thanks to their great skills.
