Spencer Strider has sobering words for Braves clubhouse

This Braves campaign has been nothing short of an unmitigated disaster, and Spencer Strider had some sobering words to describe what will go down as possibly the most disappointing season in franchise history.

It’s a reality that hasn’t been faced in about a decade for these Atlanta Braves. Rarely are we saying goodbye. We usually welcome new faces to the clubhouse around this time. This is not only a change for fans but also for the players that have been a part of a stretch of seven consecutive postseason berths.

Strider and the rest of the clubhouse will likely be saying bye to several of their teammates, including Marcell Ozuna, Raisel Iglesias, Aaron Bummer, and Pierce Johnson. Braves Country will certainly have a more difficult time parting ways with some of them because of their contributions, but inside the organization, it’s difficult for everyone.

That doesn’t even include the possibility that the Braves could part ways with others like Sean Murphy, Ozzie Albies, and Michael Harris II in the offseason.

When the Braves won a World Series in 2021, it capped off a stretch from 2018 where the young team kept banging on the door of a championship. It marked the first title since 1995, but it was expected to be the first of several.

Alex Anthopoulos had locked in their young talent to long-term, team-friendly deals. Since then, the Braves haven’t won a single postseason series, losing twice to the Phillies in the NLDS and failing to get out of the Wild Card last year against the Padres.

Anthopoulos must make some changes, a reminder just how quickly things can change in this sport.
