Spencer Strider looks unrecognizable after shaving off his mustache

Spencer Strider is doing away with his trademark look.

The Atlanta Braves pitcher Strider shocked fans on Monday by showing up to his team’s game against the Chicago Cubs completely clean-shaven. Strider was not pitching but was visible on the top step of the dugout at Truist Park in Atlanta, Ga.

Take a gander at Strider’s new look.

The former MLB strikeouts leader Strider has been rocking a mustache for at least the last several years now. Even dating back to his time in the minor leagues, Strider was virtually always going with either a beard, a mustache, or both, such that it became a signature part of his look.

But Strider has really been struggling this season for Atlanta. Over 19 total starts in 2025, Strider has looked extremely hittable, posting a 5-12 record on a 4.97 ERA, a 1.39 WHIP, and 9.4 strikeouts per nine innings (all the worst full-season numbers of Strider’s MLB career). He also dealt with some strange injuries earlier in the year.

With Strider scheduled to start against the Cubs on Tuesday, it is no wonder that he wants to change up his juju a bit. The Braves entered play on Monday at brutal 64-79 on the season as well, so any superstitions to help change their fortunes would be very welcome at this point.

Now the former All-Star Strider is looking at least 10 years younger (following in the footsteps of this fellow MLB pitcher who also got rid of his trademark mustache this year).
