Spencer Torkelson Finally Has His First Major League Hit

Well, the day has finally arrived.

Highly touted Detroit Tigers rookie sensation Spencer Torkelson picked up his first major league hit.

While batting in the bottom of the third inning in the Tigers’ game against the Boston Red Sox, Torkelson ripped an 89-mph fastball from veteran left-hander Rich Hill into the gap in right center field that was almost caught on a diving attempt by Red Sox center fielder Enrique Hernandez.

But the ball went by him and right fielder Christian Arroyo, allowing Torkelson to trot into second base with his first ever big-league hit.

More hits are sure to follow for Torkelson in the coming weeks.

First Of Many

This is a great moment for Torkelson and the Tigers.

He obviously has an extremely bright future and put everybody on notice with his power.

But now, Torkelson can finally say that he has his first Major League hit.

It’s always a nice moment when a player picks up their first career hit.

It’s a moment that nobody can ever take away from them.

And to do it at home makes it even more special.

Fans who were in attendance will remember this for the rest of their lives as well.

Torkelson is one of many exciting young players that are a part of the Tigers’ roster in 2022, a roster which looks to be capable of contending for an American League Wild Card spot.

So far, the Tigers appear to be off to a solid start as they hope to improve and build upon their 77-85 finish last season.

We’ll certainly see more hits from Torkelson down the line, and he will be instrumental in the Tigers’ success in 2022.
