Cincinnati Reds manager Terry Francona talked to reporters on Wednesday afternoon in Kansas City and gave an injury update on infielder Noelvi Marte.
The 23-year-old has been on the injured list with a grade two oblique strain.
His recovery was ahead of schedule so they moved up his MRI one week.
He received more good news on this week and is able to start doing "rotational activities", in addition to the running program he already was on, according to Mark Sheldon of MLB.com.
Marte started the season in Triple-A Louisville but hit well enough to earn a starting role with Cincinnati once Jeimer Candelario went on the injured list.
He hit .294 with three home runs in 19 games for Cincinnati this season.
Marte is still a while out from seeing game action, but it’s good to see his recovery is going well.
