The Texas Rangers are making yet another roster move this weekend. Right-handed pitcher Cole Winn joined the Rangers in Houston just prior to Sunday’s game against the Astros. He will be activated to give relief to an exhausted bullpen. Cody Bradford will be placed on the 15-day injured list due to back soreness. Right-hander Michael Lorenzen will be activated from the injured list and will take Bradford’s place in the rotation for the time being.

RHP Cole Winn

Drafted by the Texas Rangers in the first round of the 2018 Major League Baseball Amateur Draft. Despite being on the 40-man roster, he has not yet made his MLB debut. In his five-year career in the Rangers minor league affiliates, he has amassed a W/L record of 26-23, across 100 appearances, 80 of which were starts. He has allowed 348 hits, 242 runs, 230 of which were earned, 44 home runs, 237 walks and 401 strikeouts across 383.2 innings.

RHP Michael Lorenzen

Drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 7th round of the 2010 Amateur Draft, and was drafted in the 1st round of the 2013 Amateur Draft by the Cincinnati Reds. His debut came on April 29th, 2015 for the Reds, he faced the Milwaukee Brewers going five innings giving up three runs on eight hits; he walked one and struck out five and he suffered a loss. After seven years with the Reds, he made 295 appearances with 26 of them coming as starts and he went 23-23 with a 4.07 ERA, a 1.37 WHIP, and 406 strikeouts in 473.1 innings. He signed with the Los Angeles Angels ahead of the 2022 season and with them he made 18 starts going 8-6 with a 4.18 ERA, a 1.20 WHIP, and 85 strikeouts in 153 innings. Last season he signed with the Detroit Tigers and made 18 starts with them going 5-7 with a 3.58 ERA, a 1.09 WHIP, and 83 strikeouts in 105.2 innings, he was traded by the Tigers to the Philadelphia Phillies and there he made 11 appearances with seven of them coming as starts he went 4-2 with a 5.51 ERA, a 1.45 WHIP, and 28 strikeouts in 47.1 innings; he also threw a no-hitter with the Phillies. For his career, he has made 342 appearances with 69 of them coming as starts going 40-38 with a 4.11 ERA, a 1.32 WHIP, and 602 strikeouts in 724 innings.
