Aaron Judge and the slumping New York Yankees welcomed fellow MVP-candidate Cal Raleigh and the Seattle Mariners to the Bronx for a three game series. The series ended with the Yankees sweeping the Mariners – capped off by a walk-off sacrifice fly from Judge in the 10th inning and featuring a missed tag of Anthony Volpe at home from Raleigh.
Mariners All-Star pitcher Bryan Woo no-hit the Yankees through seven innings and Seattle held a 5-0 lead before Jazz Chisholm Jr. broke up the no-no with a single to start a three-run eighth inning. Then the Yankees picked up on a tip from closer Andres Munoz to help tie the game in the ninth to set up Judge’s walk-off sac fly. The Yankees became the first team since the 1977 Pirates to win a game they trailed by five and had no hits through the first seven innings
Which brings us to today’s quiz. With a .356 batting average, 34 home runs and 78 RBIs to go with 24 intentional walks (second-most in a Yankee season already) before the All-Star break, Judge is the front-runner to win his third A.L. MVP. With that being said, can you name every American and National League MVP since 2000 in five minutes?
Good luck!
