The '2026 hits leaders by MLB team' quiz

Wednesday’s slate of MLB playoff games boasts four elimination games, starting out with the Cleveland Guardians trying to keep their season alive against the Chicago White Sox. Not only are the Guardians in a 2-0 hole in the ALDS, they’re heading into the first playoff game hosted by the White Sox since 2021. 

If Cleveland is going to keep its season alive in what will be the very  unfriendly confines of Rate Field, leadoff hitter Steven Kwan getting going could go a long way. 

Despite hitting .282 in the regular season, Kwan has just one hit in seven plate appearances so far this postseason. That one hit – a leadoff single in Game 2 – sparked a two-run inning for Cleveland. Outside of that innings, the Guardians have mustered just one run in 17 frames. 

They’ll hope their bats are able to stir against White Sox opener Sean Newcomb, who Kwan was 1-for-3 with two walks against this regular season and who owns a 3.24 ERA in 8 1/3 innings against the Guardians this year. Cleveland has the added advantage of having seen Newcombe throw two innings in Game 2, when he allowed just one hit and struck out three.

Which brings us to today’s quiz. Kwan led the Guardians with 152 hits this season, his fourth with at least 150 hits in five tries. With that being said, can you name the player to finish the 2026 campaign as the hits leader for each MLB team?
