When Giancarlo Stanton injured his calf running the bases early in April, Yankees fans were concerned it could be a while before they saw him again. Now, it looks like he may not take the field again this season for the New York Yankees after sustaining an injury in his other calf while approaching his return for the Bronx Bombers.
Despite being one of the most intimidating hitters of his generation, Stanton’s body has betrayed him in the latter years of his Big League career. He played in just 77 games in 2025 and has appeared in only 24 contests this season after playing at least 100 from 2021-24.
Since reigning-American League MVP Aaron Judge joined Stanton on the Injured List, the Yankees have had one of the worst offenses in baseball, but are still a near lock for the playoffs even if they don’t catch the Tampa Bay Rays in the A.L. East.
If Stanton is able to get healthy in time for a postseason run, he could be a very valuable bat for an offense that needs some help. In the Yankees' run to the 2024 World Series he mashed seven home runs, most of which came in huge spots.
Which brings us to today’s quiz. Stanton is Major League Baseball’s active leader in home runs and finds himself just 46 dingers short of joining the 500-homer club. With that being said, how many of the 41 players in baseball history to hit at least 450 home runs can you name in six minutes?
Good luck!
