The 'Active MLB strikeout leaders' quiz

The New York Yankees pitching staff has been among the very best in baseball early in 2026, and that has been without either Gerrit Cole or Carlos Rodon. But after missing all of 2025 with Tommy John surgery, Cole is set to face hitters for the first time in the regular season this Sunday with Single-A Hudson Valley.

The 2023 Cy Young winner missed a chunk of the 2024 season after dealing with an elbow injury in spring training that didn’t require Tommy John, but he did eventually go under the knife during spring training 2025.

So far this season, Yankee starters have more than kept the rotation afloat without Cole. They’ve combined for a 5-1 record with a MLB-best 2.14 ERA and 68 strikeouts while allowing hitters to hit just .200 with only two home runs in 12 games. Adding a former Cy Young winner could make them downright scary.

Which brings us to today’s quiz. Cole ranks fourth amongst active pitchers with 2,251 in his career. With that being said, can you name the active pitchers with at least 1,000 strikeouts?

Good luck!
