The New York Yankees 2025 regular season has been an emotional roller coaster for both the fans and the players, but thanks to a ninth-inning rally against the Chicago White Sox, the Bronx Bombers are heading back to the postseason.
What was looking like a frustrating loss and a missed opportunity to make the American League East race very interesting in the final week of the season turned into what the Yankees will hope is the first of many champagne showers in the clubhouse. Trent Grisham grounded into a double-play down 2-1 in the bottom of the ninth, leading to the White Sox intentionally walking Aaron Judge.
A walk to Cody Bellinger in the next at-bat – culminating in a wild pitch that allowed Anthony Volpe to scamper home from third and tie the game – was followed by a nine-pitch battle between Jose Caballero and Brandon Eisert. Caballero won the battle, dunking a walk-off single in shallow center field to score Judge from second and guarantee the Yankees a spot in the playoffs.
Which brings us to today’s quiz. Caballero joined the Yankees from the Tampa Bay Rays at the trade deadline, primarily to play defense and steal bases after he finished fourth in MLB in steals in 2024. With that being said, can you name every MLB player to lead the American League in steals since the 2000 season?
Good luck!
