The Athletic Insider Predicts Angels Sign All-Star Free Agent Outfielder
USA TODAY Sports

MLB Insider Jim Bowden of The Athletic has the Angels signing one of the better outfielders available on the market. That would be former Seattle Mariners right-handed hitter Teoscar Hernandez.

"The Angels have money to spend after losing Ohtani, they need power, and Hernández fits a profile that aligns with general manager Perry Minasian’s track record, including his trade for Hunter Renfroe in 2022. Hernández has hit 25 or more home runs in four of the past five years, including 26 last season to go along with 29 doubles and 93 RBIs. He was again among the league leaders in strikeouts (211) and had a .305 on-base percentage."

Per Jim Bowden of The Athletic

After losing Shohei Ohtani, the Angels have a big hole in the middle of their lineup to fill. Hernandez isn't Ohtani, but he could provide them with some needed power and run-producing abilities.

The offense for the Angels needs an upgrade, and Hernandez could help the cause. During his 2021 All-Star season, he hit .296 with 32 home runs and 116 runs batted in.

He would become a main force within the Halos lineup, alongside Mike Trout and Anthony Rendon. This is a move that the Angels should make, and it would be a beneficial one at that.

Bowden predicts Hernandez signing a two-year, $28 million deal with the Halos in free agency. That would be great value for an Angels team in need of a another offensive punch in the lineup.
