The Best Phillies Prospect In 2025
USA TODAY Sports

MLB.com updated their prospect ratings and put out their rankings of every team's pipeline to reflect the changes. The Philadelphia Phillies were not very high on the list despite having four players on the Top 100 list.

To go along with the updates that they gave out for the prospects, MLB.com is also projecting who the best prospects will be in every team's organization in 2025.

Andrew Painter was the pick for the three staff writers who put together the list.

It should come as no surprise. The right handed starter is the Phillies number one rated prospect currently and the number 29 overall player. Many expected him to make his major league debut at some point this season, but Tommy John surgery will push back his timeline.

Painter was Philadelphia's first round draft pick in 2021. He worked his way from the Single-A affiliate up to the Double-A team this season. Across 22 games started, he has a 6-2 record with a 1.56 ERA and over a strikeout per inning.

He underwent Tommy John surgery in July and will likely miss the entire 2024 season.

MLB.com says, "So it will be 2025 when we will see a fully restored Painter do his thing, with the expectation that he’ll get back to doing what he was doing and make a beeline to Philly."

The big right hander stands 6'7" and possesses the combination of stuff and control. He projects to be a big time starter at the major league level whenever he makes his way to the MLB.

It's clear that Painter is the best prospect in the Phillies' pipeline. He should play a big role in the future of the franchise when he recovers from his injury.
