The Blue Jays should be willing to trade anybody on their roster

As the trade deadline inches closer and closer, it is clear what the Toronto Blue Jays must do. A team that entered the year with high hopes and playoff aspirations now finds itself stuck in mediocrity, if not outright failure.

The Blue Jays are now 45-55 and must shift their focus to next season.

Toronto ranks 21st in OPS (.688) and 25th in ERA (4.47). On top of that, key players such as Bo Bichette, Jordan Romano and Isiah Kiner Falefa have been dealing with injuries all year long.

With the trade deadline on July 30, there is no more beating around the bush: it is time to sell. The Jays will likely try to shop players on expiring deals. However, the front office should dig deeper and explore all corners of interest.

Here are five players that the Blue Jays should trade this summer and a potential landing spot for them:

Yusei Kikuchi

Of all the potential trade pieces the Blue Jays have, Kikuchi seems the most likely to go. He is on the last year of his contract, and would be a great piece for a contending team to add. Through 111 innings this season, he has pitched to a 4.54 ERA, a 1.31 WHIP and has racked up 125 strikeouts.

A potential landing spot: The Minnesota Twins.

Yimi Garcia

Similarly to Kikuchi, Garcia is likely to be sold due to his expiring contract. He has had a very impressive season out of Toronto's 'pen this year, posting a 2.48 ERA and a 0.76 WHIP in 29 innings. He is 33 years old and will not be part of Jays' long-term future, so they should capitalize on his value now.

A potential landing spot: The Boston Red Sox.

George Springer

Springer is owed a lot of money and is under team control for two more seasons, so finding a trade partner for him may be a bit more difficult. He has, however, proved that he can still be a valuable asset to a contending team. In his last 15 games, he is slashing .298/.355/.614.

A potential landing spot: The Seattle Mariners.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr.

Guerrero Jr. is by far the safest player on the Blue Jays' roster. Based on his value, though, and the front office's reluctance to pay him up until this point, there would be no harm in exploring what kind of haul he could attract. If the organization decides to move away from Vladdy, then there will be plenty of suitors willing to pay a premium for his services.

A potential landing spot: The Los Angeles Angels.

Jordan Romano

Jordan Romano is currently on the 15-day IL, and there is no set date for his return. Although it is very rare for injured players to be traded midseason, exploring what they could get for Romano would show this team's dedication to securing a better future. in 229.2 career innings, Romano has a 2.90 ERA and a 1.14 WHIP.

A potential landing spot: The Baltimore Orioles.

By embracing a seller’s mentality, the Blue Jays can replenish their farm system and build a foundation for sustained success. Players like Ricky Tiedemann, Addison Barger and Orelvis Martinez represent the future, but adding more pieces would solidify this foundation.

Seeing the season come to this point is a bitter pill to swallow, but the prospect of a brighter future makes it absolutely necessary.
