The Braves Give Fans The Best Ozzie Albies Update
Brett Davis-USA TODAY Sports

Ozzie Albies has been out since June with a fractured foot that he suffered during a game against the Washington Nationals.

Today, the Atlanta Braves finally reinstated their star second baseman from the injured list.

Right-handed pitcher Jay Jackson was designated for assignment to make room for Albies on the roster.

Utility infielder Ehire Adrianza was placed on the 10-Day Injured List with a strain in his left quadricep.

The switch hitter was hitting .244 with eight home runs and 33 RBI before landing on the injured list.

He had also posted an OPS of .694, recorded 59 hits, and scored 34 runs.

Albies is a career .270 hitter with 98 homers and 344 RBI.

Albies Returns

This is huge for the Braves.

They’ve still performed well in Albies’ absence.

But having him back gives them an extra boost that they really needed.

They sit just a game back of the slumping New York Mets in the NL East.

Now is the perfect time for the defending World Series champions to get Albies back.

The 25-year-old played a key role in the Braves bringing home their first World Series title since 1995 last October.

Now, he’s back and the Braves’ lineup is at full strength.

One would think that things can only get better from here.

The timing is perfect, as the Braves will be opening up a three-game series at home against the red-hot Philadelphia Phillies, who they could end up matching up with in the Wild Card series.

The Braves want the NL East title though.

Having Albies back gives them a huge boost in their pursuit of catching the Mets after trailing them by 10 games earlier this season.

We’ll see how it affects them in the next few weeks.
